Christian, that is a wonderful looking watch; enjoy. Robbie
When the new IWC Aquatimer generation was presented about a year ago, my first reactions were a bit reserved (to say the least). Too generic, too colourful, and (especially the chronos) way too expensive - a complete re-design compared to the previous (internal-bezel) generation. A few weeks later, a re-worked version of the AT 2000 was anounced - now in a classic black/white design, much closer to the original designs that I associate with IWC.
So, the white AT 2000 came on the watch list for 2010 - but due to the price the original plan was to wait until the intial rush is over and prices / supply at grey dealers became more reasonable. But sometimes... saw it at the AD, had a short chat, and took it right away (a worringly spontaneous decision...). Anyway, no worries about wife or funds right now, just "sheer watching pleasure"
First impressions:
- Quick-release system is an excellent improvement, even faster than before. Cannot get much easier - downside is the limited supply of bracelet alternatives
- Bracelet: as good as ever, the polished middle links do not look flashy or obtrusive. Links ar now larger, still no fine adjustment (only half-links).
- Dial: Looks so different at the first glance, but if you compare it more closely you can see the heritage of the GST Aquatimer all the way (dial layout, hands, markers etc.).
- Lume: Way better than before - still not as bright as a Seamaster, but two colours and very cool design.
- Size: Diameter grew from 42 to 44mm, but is still ok due to the shape of the case.
And now some photos :drunken: :
Some wrist-shots:

I know it's been said before but 44mm is a huge face for mere mortals with a normal wrist size :o Love the simplicity of this one, but maybe a tad smaller?
looks great, this could be my next purchase 8)
Lovely and congrats...however, still my least favourite of the 4 ATs you posted on the other IWC thread.
It is very nice, but the others are nicer imo. Sorry
:D Very nice, It just looks cool, would be too big for me. :(
I am with you on most of this range being out of character for IWC but I love the white version.
That's really rather nice - congratulations!
I've always liked the earlier white faced Aquatimers, should I be lucky enough happen across one at the right price I'd have it in a heartbeat. Now this has arrived it'll make the choice more difficult.
David
Fantastic, I like that very much. :)
Very nice, congrats
Mark
would be good to see a few comparison shots with the 3536 :D
Beauty - happy to learn there's a white dial now - will have to check that out!
... will try to make some in the next couple of days. At a first glance, the face of the 3568 is quite similar to the 3536-002; the profile, however, is closer to the 3548 with the same "Strichschliff"-finish.Originally Posted by redmond

Thats a cracker, looked at one myself last week. desided to hold out for the galapagos edition.
Hope you enjoy it.
thanks mate, 8) that would be goodOriginally Posted by u2112
That looks pretty cool, but I still prefer the two previous ranges.

while i am not a fan of the new ATs, i find the white dial model to be the most palatable of the annnounced versions, but the polished middle links on the bracelet are a problem for me. if only they had kept to the all brushed finish like they did with the 3548, i might be inclined to give it a look-see. (i also wish they'd kept it at 42 mm)
nonetheless, it's a unique-looking diver from IWC (as they've released very few white-dial divers through the years) and i hope you get much enjoyment from it. thanks for posting the pics.

Although it isn't shown in my post they did have a white dial version there, but it was the one that was canceled and re-styled to be yours. IWC wouldn't let me photograph it because the decision had just been made not to release it with the others.
I was very impressed with them. Very well made, as you would expect from IWC, and the strap change system is excellent. Everything felt right about them, but as others have said they seemed a little too big and brash compared with either of the previous versions.
I have to say though that your photos show me that the white dial is the best looking one. I'm sure you'll enjoy it :)
Great watch from IWC,this one along with Jason's Sinn 103 white face are probably the
best 2 i've seen.
Love it, fantastic! The only AT from the new range that I truly fancy. I suspect like the B42 Marinemasters, the watch wears like a true 42mm due to the shape of the case and bezel protrusion.
Christian - this is really nice - relly nice indeed - has presence. 8)
The best looking AT of the current range IMHO.

Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
+1 not sure about the polished centre links though.Originally Posted by Daddelvirks
Really nice and a much better effort than previous, saw these in a Dublin AD during the week and thought the chrono was tasty too.
Looks to be a ceramic insert on the bezel :?:
It's a sapphire bezel insert 8)Originally Posted by stowaJLCfan

Nice, first time I've seen the white dial 8)
Super looking watch, white face is superb, I have tried on the Chrono with black face and that didn't quite do it for me but the simplicity of that dial looks really smart.
Do they throw in one of the rubber straps with the package or are these an extra?
Never seen that dial before in the wild, lovely 8)
"I looked with pity not untinged with scorn upon these trivial-minded passers-by"
Not bad at all.
I've finally figured out what niggles me about the aesthetic of these new ATs - the bezel edge ought (imho) to be completely brushed to offset the shine of the insert. I think this would help the appearance settle down and look a little less toy-like.

D.
That is a really nice watch...
Very nice indeed, i will have to go to my local AD and try one on!!!
Ooh I have never seen a white faced one before, very nice indeed!
Now why did look!? Lovely.
That has just flicked my switch :P waiting for a call back on price/availability now. Lovely and ununual too :)
... here are some close-ups of the new quick-relase system - you can see the little spring under the release lever. Takes a second to release/attach the bracelet and no risk of scratches from spring bars/tools.
And some (very poor...) photos trying to catch the different lume colours - the minute hand corresponds to the first 15 minutes on the bezel (in reality, the colours are much brighter - and nicer...):
Cheers,
Christian
Thats like a dream watch for me. Wish they made a smaller version
Thatīs truly a beautifull watch, if only i could find one used.....
It's the first time I've seen that watch and think it looks great- funky lume as well. Enjoy!

... now, as promised, a few photos to compare the three "modern" Aquatimer generations (in my case, it's a IWC GST AT 3536-002 from 2004, a IWC AT 3548-05 from 2009, and a IWC AT 3568-05 from 2010):
Side by side:
- most obvious changes between generations are the bezel concepts: first the external "push and rotate" system with raised steel numerals, than an internal bezel with second crown, than the external sapphire bezel
- case and bracelet are nearly identical for the 3536 and 3548, only difference being the polished vs. "Strichschliff" finish of the sides; the lugs of the 3568 are large, edgier and more concave
- no AR coating for the 3536, double AR coating for 3548 and 3568
- smooth transition of lugs and bracelet for the 3536 and 3548, straight bracelet with larger links and fully covered by the lugs with the 3568; polished middle links for 3536 and 3568, slightly concave links with the 3536 and 3548
- depth rating 2000m / 1000m / 2000m; fish crown for the 3536, probus scafusia for the others - crown for the 3568 is larger and more structured

Btw. the 3568 gained 1 second in the first week... damn

Congratulations Christian
A super piece. and I think it will turn out to be one of the IWC favourites.
An excellent choice

Now that is very nice indeed, I particularly like the raised border to the date window.
If only there was an IWC dealer near me!
Stef
Stunning watches all three of them. But I have to say that the white one is my absolute favourite. IWC makes a few rather nice watches, time to start checking out the prices of used ones. Problem is that the cheap ones arent cheap enough for my wallet :bom:
A fantastic trio! This thread has totally sold me on the 3548-05!! Another piece to add to the ever growing wish list...
bloomin gorgeous.....
Was in Hong Kong recently and seen afew of these in ADs....lovely watches and beauitfully made. My next watch will be an IWC, they're quality. Good choice.
great pictures of a cracking watch - love the lume shots 8) I think you have turned a lot of people onto this model...
hope it stays with you for many a year :)
Some reat shots there, good choice
Wow Wow Wow, I love that watch!
I too have not been grabbed by the new aquatimer range despite being a huge IWC and huge Aquatimer fan. However that white dial on bracelet looks fantastic and great on your wrist.
And I am very impressed with your pictures of all 3 of your watches. Simply beatiful watches photographed extremely well.
Good luck and enjoy.
James
+1 , wear it well
Very nice shots, and wonderful watch, congrats! :)
