On the IWC they are purely ornamental.
I agree with this suggestion, a slightly more subtle font or text size would look good.
And is there a way to minimize the gap between the case and the first link of the braclet? Or would that...
Lovely! My favorites are the grey and blue.

Indeed a very good price. (market would be about double that, more if the picture doesn't do it justice)
edit: Yes, definately rush back and buy it. Even if you don't want it, enough people on the...
I totally agree. They have a version of the Spring Drive movement with the power reserve on the back. They should use that on all their Spring Drive models.

I love it, but it has too many lines of text on the dial. Without "chronometer" and "officially certified" it would have been way better.

There was someone here with a Rolex with a really nice engraved caseback. (but I can't quickly find it with the search)
edit: found it:...
I think it might need a "reset". If I remember correctly it was pulling the crown out to the time-setting position for my watch. (it may be in the manual if you still have it)
In this case it's the "base 1000" that's even more rare. It was only on the really early models like the 2998.
It might be 19mm, but a 20mm nato strap should fit.
There are a lot of aftermarket options for the 6497 movement they use, including sterile pilot dials.
Let's hope they get enough people to have dial number 4 made.
Yes, the 8 day models will run for 8 days when fully wound.
I would also recommend a hand wind with a large power reserve (8 days).
Athaya also makes a nice 6105-type (with Seiko movement): http://shop.athayavintage.com/
I'm not sure if it's true for all Grand Seiko calibers, but my GMT doesn't have a quick-set date (you have cycle the GMT hand forward a day). If I had known this beforehand I probably would have...
Somehow that digital orrery is super-cool to me.
And those with the most simple dials. (but must be sandwich)
Panerai 422
And Seiko too.
