the resistance can sometimes be changed through the bits tucked inside the bezel.
a watchmaker will sort you out quickly... and may be cheaper than buying whole other watch.

i think on the lower end of the scale, seiko represents good value - provided there's no expectation of perfection.
my observations are that no matter the tier, seiko mechanical...

i made a small loss on mine when i sold it on due to bezel wear.
make sure the bezel (and insert) are in good condition.
polishing will make it rounded. a replacement costs big bucks.
i think i will add: the proportions are great. my wrist is 8" and it wears wonderfully.
the finishing on the head is wonderful when i viewed them at the AD.
