Summer auctions? People are off enjoying themselves rather than watching watches.
You have a more delicate hand than most. Is telling though that you found it uneconomic to work to those standards?
There are so many watches cases that have been ruined by careless, or just over...
I would always choose a watch in the best possible condition, but once that condition has gone replacing parts with modern service items often looks incongruous and out of place.
Luminova on...
Dial looked like a service dial, bezel re done?, hands I think relumed and not correct for that model. A bit of a headache to correct. Looks like someone has decided its worth having though, gone.
Is it the Rolex generic ones you go for?
Finding good spring bars is not easy. The size and shape of the sprung pins, lengths and diameters seem infinite, and I am yet to get a good box that work well!
Very pretty!
It was a very nice 145.036, the 3rd iteration of the Flightmaster with revised crystal retaining seal design. It actually has the correct circular brush finish that was used on some of these cases,...
It is 2am here, but if you told me these were from a Chinese website, I would have thought, well yeah obviously!
I did experiment with cutting NATO's, but I find it much neater to fold the end back under the keeper, so the loose end is sandwiched between inner and outer layer of strap.
Feet first with a chapter ring. I am not an expert but that’s a new one on me?
I would have thrown it back and looked for a better one
As I understand it, (and whether the science is true or not I don’t know) the phosphorous used in certain Tritium mixes notably that in old Omegas will charge under light. 1970,80,90 Rolex will not....
That would be the case for most/all Tritium hands too. The 12.5 year half life has expired on most.
I would go no date and think it’s a cleaner more desirable look. I haven’t investigated recently but cousins had run out of non date dials and obviously won’t be re stocking so that may influence...

I have a love of serious Omega Divers and recent discusion and new findings have got my investigative instincts peaked. I would...
I am not sure these tips are very useful. I find this works for me. Hold it up to a light bulb in a dark room, then turn off the light.
Old Tritium hands usually glow for a shortish period when...
I fall somewhere in the middle. The auction house is overselling the McQueen side of things. The article seems intent on disproving the watch, even to the extent of character assassination.
That...
This is a feature to protect a dive watch from damaging or snagging the crown. Not so you can wear it on the right wrist.
But of course you can wear any watch where ever you please.
The HEV does not help with water resistance. If anything it’s another weak point for ingress. Deep divers use helium as part of the mix they breathe. This has very small molecules that enter a watch...
Model number is on the case back. About 1974 ish I would guess
I have 10 that I would be very unhappy to part with. Must try harder!
Enjoying my Tissot version. Nearly as nice

Proberbly spent up after getting Elvis’s watch!
Err no £120,000. Possibly plus fees
£120,000 in the end. A bit out of the usual range for a Speedsonic.
