I believe the ETA 955.111 is better than the Ronda 715, yes.
I've taken both apart, and its my personal opinion that the design, materials, and looks of the ETA are all superior. They are more...
Best off asking them directly, but if you want the thin hands and non-lumed numerals, the G10 is the better watch. It has the battery hatch and the superior movement. :)
The number 955.122 is the calibre (model number). The original movements of that era had green circuits and nickel metal parts - the blue/gold came later.
The numbers on the dial look too thin,...
On second thoughts, it looks like the dial and hands have been replaced too. Did you send it back to Silvermans for repair? All I can tell is that the movement is later than around 1991/92.
It loses some value because the movement has been replaced with a modern counterpart. Still very nice though.
My new G10 arrived! :)
The latest batch of G10 are still in the old style - they have thin hands, and the numerals are not lumed. But they do not have a C in the issue number.
About this time last...
New batch of G10 are out, I presume with the same fat hands as this. One is on its way to me now, so I'll post pictures when it arrives.
Unfortunately the prices have risen quite a bit! I guess...
The GS2000 hasn't had a battery hatch for a long time if ever. There were some called 'navigators' in the 80s and 90s with battery hatches and date windows, but the usual G10 without date should...
The new hands are definitely an improvement, but I think the previous dial was better. The dial from early 2012 has the best contrast of any CWC G10 I've seen, and great lume. With this one the lume...
Not the best picture, its too dark here now..
You can just see that they've added a slot for a case tool in the side of the case, and the engraving is lighter than before.
...
Silvermans, but without the C in the serial number. It is the very latest 2012 variety, so if issued ones become available, it probably won't be for a while yet :)
I just received this new style CWC GS2000. The numerals are lumed, the hands are fat, as well as other small changes. Since the current G10 is out of stock, I wonder if the next batch will have the...
The coefficient of thermal expansion is much higher for acrylic than steel (5 - 15 times higher), which means that it will shrink much more in cold weather than the surrounding steel of the case. The...
+1 , keep up the informative posts Huerticilla, I really enjoy reading them. While others might feel a nostalgic draw towards mechanical watches, being a child of the 80's, quartz have that for me.
Very interesting to know, on both counts, thanks. I'm not sure if I prefer the polished or blasted finish, but it's nice to have what will be a quite rare watch :)
What serial number does yours have? I have a PVD SBS, and a no-date standard RN diver. Both are numbered 032 / 12. Must be a coincidence, I can't imagine all of the latest batch are numbered 032? :D ...
The Tag Heuer F1 was about £500 in the early 90s, and £550 in 1997, which translates to £800 - £900 of today's money. That was for the quartz watch with a plastic bezel, mineral crystal, and no screw...
As far as I can tell, there are 3 versions of the SBS, please correct me if there is anything wrong..
1: Up to ~2005: Brevet case (stamped inside caseback) with flat crown guards, quiet bezel, and...
I think the last ones were about £299.
There is also a new SBS quartz diver - the latest version has:
PVD instead of anodized finish (the crown still looks anodized to me though, I suspect...
Try an ebay search for Phoenix Straps 22mm. Those are thin. The thinnest I've known are 'Italian silk nylon' from the same maker, but I've only seen them in 18mm, and they are a bit remeniscent of...
I have a couple of boxed, new old stock 1987 G10s, and they have thin cases, but with dials from the older medium case watches ('Swiss' not 'Swiss Made'). They are about the same thickness and weight...
Try thinking with my eyes ... mine says ENGLAND on the dial. :hello2:

Also, the bezel insert on the new one looks better, with smaller numbers and markers 8)
mat, i thought the tubes were drilled after they were placed in the case to remove the splines????[/quote]
Ah ok, I have only removed one from a homage before, and replaced it with an aftermarket...
A good thing about the trip-lock crowns is that the tube is very easy to replace. A tool fits inside, allowing it to be easily unscrewed from the case. Unfortunately, genuine replacements...
