As part of a wider collection I certainly would.
Buy vintage Rolex, especially as they're so much cheaper than the modern ones...
Not sure if it's the same thing, but I prefer my Swiss made watches to have the day in French; just seems more 'authentic' in some way. You can't always get what you want, but I do look for it.
...
What a good humoured chap you are laughing at pretty much everything. Are you sure a watch forum is for you though? You seem to despise them.
What about classic cars? Artwork? London property?...
Nice watch. But it's Thursday.
Still better this than the usual stock blurry photo from the '+1' sex tourist.
It's more than a service; basically they are saying it's necessary to replace everything except the case and dial! Crown, crystal, bezel, hands and bracelet. I want it serviced and water proofed and...
Lovely - I don't suppose they do one with a telemeter scale do they..?
Hmm, is that date surround simply glued on? Not what you'd hope for on the what are considered to be the worlds best finished (mass production) watches.
That does look pretty good - so they've dropped the silly 'vintage' text from the dial. Good move.
Lost the red triangle though :(
Interesting thread; I have a 1998 Colt SuperOcean that I thought I might get tidied up and start wearing again. Cost me £600 back in the day at Zurich airport during a sale.
My quote? Just over...
They do get 'nibbled' - it's a realtively tall watch with a protruding crystal. You might spend the cash and then do it again next day so if you can, just wait until it needs a full service
I still like it.
One thing you can glean from this OP; if you want to flip it you'll really struggle...
Hmm, completely the opposite in my experience. Bent over backwards to help with my Lange and at a fabulous price.
Depends on the watch though I would imagine.
Isn't that called 'business'?
Great insight.
Steel Daytona (unavailable), Blue Deepsea (a functioning waiting list) and to some extent the BLNR GMT. Everything else seems available with some shopping around.
You believe wrong.
OP, if you want an 'original type Speedie' th n you don't get a clear case back. Google Speedmaster Sapphire sandwich and you'll get an idea.
Nice entry level piece or high end beater. On the big side but maybe the dark case will help hide its bulk.
I used to teach a geology course down there, did 10 or 12 of them. Always stayed at the Moonfleet Manor and always ate at the Crab House Cafe on the Fleet at Weymouth. Good times!
The Hive Beach...
Sorry to hear about your grandfather firstly, but congrats on the watch.
I have bought a sold two LVs and have regretted selling both times. I have it in my head I was saving for a Blue Sub (WG)...
Not sure what it is about the bezel... it looks like it's there for a real reason, like the transmitter on an Emergency, or the He valve on a Sea-Dweller, and I like that.
The Longines just looks...
That really is a great looking watch, no two ways about it.
You don't owe the 'postman's champion' an apology. Just ignore the miserable sod like everyone else.
Nope. He's our one stop shop for any jewellery. He'll make the right introductions to the right people and is well known on here.
It reminds me of the Speedmaster Alaska with the armoured casing fitted.
I like it, looks like it has a purpose as an actually timing reference. Not a watch for wearing around an office though...
Temperature dropping to mid-30s...
