I suspect it's a very cheap Chinese clone of the 7753. Note the press fit rotor bearing, as apposed to a spring fit and, alarmingly, there doesn't appear to be any rotor screw!

Thanks Gerrudd, it's often referred to as the 'deep blue' due to the dial colour and the reference is 166.073. They usually house a calibre 565 but this example has the chronometer rated cal. 564 for...
I know mate, don't think I can be accused of being a flipper :smug:
Just found Pinkwindmill's original sales post from May 2007, so nearly 17 years ago! What ever happened to Guy? He was a fairly...

A bit of googling reveals that Seiko used Swiss movement in the 1920's, manufactured by a company called Moeris. SKS branded movement were either made by Moeris or, I suspect, made under license by...
I have a 20l MeacoDry Arete for the house which is very good. Quiet, efficient, low power consumption, plus easy to operate and empty. Its reduced the humidity level in our 1840's house from over 80%...

My old Sideral S from around 1972, long since sold. Sorry for the crap photo, my old photobucket account won't let me share directly and has downsized the file sizes.

Assuming they are true heated blued hands (and not just painted) you'd have to be a complete muppet to damage them whilst removing. The heating process makes them much less susceptible to bending and...

Unfortunately no guitars to see in this post but a little story.

Thanks Ralphy, hope you and yours are in good health.
I worked for Bremont for nearly 10 years (where did that time go?!) but moved to pastures new last November.
FWIW I like the Broadsword...
My money's on a loose canon pinion. It probably needs a service too if the amps are 230° at full wind or 0 hour.
Great looking watch, very much of its time and well worth spending a bit of money...
Thanks, it's 38mm with a short 42mm lug to lug size and fits my 6.75" wrist fine. I'm a sucker for blue dials and I'm very pleased with the DS-2.

As with everything in the watchmaking world, there's a tool for that. Exactly the same principle as using two spoons but a bit more control. You can get fancy ones with nylon jaws and pay a small...
Yep it's a weird movement Paul, allegedly self lubricating because of the extensive use of synthetics, I don't think it had any jewels but I could be wrong about that. Plastic main plate and bridges,...
If it is the watch in the ebay link it has a plastic movement called the Tissot cal. 2280 (the listing description is wrong). This was an adaptation of the cal.2250 which was first used in the Tissot...

Playing devils advocate you could argue that it's potentially a bad thing for the watches long term reliability.
In order to get more power more mainspring has to be shoehorned into the barrel....
There was a long discussion here about it a while back.

I use a 60mm f/2.8 AF-D Micro. An old lens but extremely well made and available used from around £150. For watch close ups I always use a good tripod, manual focus and a remote release but lighting...
