Finally completed my collection of 1970's pilot chronographs, also known to collectors as the "Fab Four"... plus an extra member in the form of a sterile MoD Hamilton. Here's a quick photo of the...
Breitling Navitimers, indeed, but don't believe I've yet encountered a "Brietling".
I fly light aircraft, sometimes as part of my job, so I suppose I might be semi qualified to comment.
Aside from telling time in the normal fashion, I'll use a chronograph to time the duration of...
Resurrecting this thread, here's a 2234 that's been modified with an all-black bezel insert. I have to say it really looks the business:
...
Living as I do in the rainforests of the NW US, I may have the dubious honour of residing the closest to prime Bigfoot territory of any TZ-UK member. In fact just last week I went for a hike through...
I've currently got my Mark XII on a Jurgens Bund. I find it to be quite comfortable, and it adds a bit of wrist presence to an otherwise smallish watch.
...
I've a 6.75" wrist and I find the 41mm SMPc to be a perfect fit for me. I wear mine on a nato which seems to help it wear a bit smaller than on the bracelet... even with the extra strap material...
Sorry, no further submissions please, this sentence has won the internet.
Agreed, I also own an AT8500 and the lack of lume is my biggest gripe.
If you can get ahold of the parts, here's how one TZ'er modified his AT with RM hands:
...
It is indeed! One thing to note about the hands - of all the various Aqua Terra three-handers ever produced by Omega, the Railmaster is the one that has by far the most lume on the hour and minute...
The Railmaster is such a classic. It took me two years to find one and I don't think I'll ever let mine go.
*If* you can find one, they seem to go for around £1600-£1900, depending on condition...
Very nice! Somebody will be happy to have his '53 FA back in service. Thanks very much indeed for posting this, I enjoyed it a great deal.
@workahol_ with an underscore (somebody poached my username and then deleted their account, but Instagram won't let me claim it)
They have a 39.5mm model too, sadly only currently available in precious metal. But it's not hugely thick compared to other PO's, just a shade over 14mm (specs here). They seem to be using a new...
I'll second this - they are fantastic. Big thumbs up from me. Maybe not the best lume, but otherwise very solid.
Do be careful if you go shopping for a used one on the big auction site, though, as...
Fair enough mate... You're quite right that the tubes don't last forever. As for the rest, all I shall say is to each his own, and leave it at that.
It looks like a GSAR to me. Long exposure as evidenced by the blurred second hand.
My TSAR (same basic watch in quartz) is not all that bright looking when the lights first go out, but at three in...
Can't believe nobody's mentioned Marathon yet! Fantastic VFM and virtually bomb-proof.

I'd love to see one of these next to a PRS-82, there are certain similarities. Possibly just the thing for the fellow who wishes his PRS-82 had a date window?
At £899 they were a bit steep, but I suppose the price could be justified due to their uniqueness and the intangible heritage factor. Being from the far side of the pond, I was able to buy mine ex...
If you are interested in "suitable" more than you are "correct" - and assuming you can find one - the bracelet from the 116710 (GMT IIc) is my favourite. I'm currently wearing a 16710 on one and it's...
Or now that the AT is proper antimagnetic, they could just do what they did last time and pop in a Railmaster dial and some better hands.
Thanks monogroover for the references. Next time I need to set the watch I shall try the trick of taking up the gear lash before depressing the crown. Good info.
Thanks to all for the kind words. It is really a lovely thing and I'm happy to have it in my collection.
I think I would also have been happy with a Mark XV, if bought at the right price. The...
Just arrived from SC... this Mark XII is in very good nick, having just had a full service done, and is well on its way to developing some really excellent tritium patina. On a nice chocolate brown...
