Hadn`t realised that micro-welding could be used to build the metal back up, but I guess it's obvious really.......just never thought about it.

I know very little about the process of cold-wlding or adding new metal to stainless steel. I`m interested to see the outcome on this. I`ve heard of a process called micro-welding and there's a BHI...
It's far more fun spending a few hours using abrasive papers, scotchbrite pads, Garryflex blocks etc and doing it by hand :D .....good for the soul!

Casebacks can be refinished by other techniques but there's no substitute for the lapping machine. Definitely the right piece of kit for starburst finishes; I've a couple of ideas on how to do them...
I`d heard a rumour about this too :wink:
There are some refinishing jobs that really do need this type of machine; I have a couple in my own collection that could do with the starburst finish...
