This wasn't something I purposefully tried to do but some how the last three watches I've picked up have a common theme

I'm putting it down as pure coincidence or have I become a victim to 'fashion'?

If that's wrong I don't wanna be right. Gorgeous trio.

How's the GWS?
Thought about buying one on a few occasions
Seems to be a theme developing here ....

I seem to have gone down the "Red Seconds Hand" route too :-)

They are fine on modern watches, but frankly, awful on vintage watches.
Generally I'm pretty pleased with it, the negatives are the tritium tubes aren't as bright as I remember those on my TSAR being or as the Mondaine's are, I'm not sure if it's because they are blue?
The bars are screw in and whilst robust they are a bit fiddly to remove if you change straps and the second hand doesn't hit the markers.
On a positive note, it's comfortable to wear as well as being easy to read regardless of lighting conditions.
I'd buy another if I wreck this one, and as it's replaced a G-Shock as my work watch that might occur.
Generally I'd agree although if the Omega counts as vintage I'd suggest it gets away with it.
Having said that I may have just put my self into a vintage category!
Looking at the images following my own, I've clearly just scratched the surface of redness, there are some fine examples to aspire to.
A red second hand has to be discreet for me.
Some on this thread are a bit in your face.
A nice thin one like on the omega seamaster 300hz tuning fork
or a tip like some of the vintage seiko divers.
The ff has a red tipped seconds hand. Does that count? Attachment 13514

The Radio Room already gone then? What are you like?
https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3683/...e3e1fe19_c.jpg
Not quite as simple as that. Basically I know a local guy who was seriously after one as he is a lifeboat man and they have a Radio Room Clock at the lifeboat station. I considered that he was more deserving than me given that he risks his life voluntarily on a daily basis, so he now has it and I am on the hunt for a replacement. I have had a lead from a guy in The US and I am waiting for him to get back to me with shipping costs, but in the meantime the hunt goes on. When I was looking for mine I did promise him that I would find two.
Another one will turn up I am sure. Adds to the thrill of the hunt and all that...
Put a bit of Lippy on.

I think that a red seconds hands can sometimes make all the difference. Here's the same Amphibia without and with a red seconds hand.

I remember years ago a dodgy old Watch dealer (I think he was called Brian) used to rap up to the Watch fairs with a bag of watches he’d try to flog in the cafe.
Just about every one of them had been taken to bits and had the second hand painted red. Made it easier to see he always said. He ruined many a good watch.

Red minute hand, red tipped second hand and red indices every 5 minutes. Makes for a very pretty watch:
