Seems people quite often want to get curved end straps because they can't stand a gap, and many mid priced watches come with such options:

But is seems that most expensive watches nearly always have the gap:

So what are your preferences and why?
I don't mind strap gaps on the whole, but bracelet gaps are a big turn off.
I have no issue with straps gaps, in fact I prefer them to the curved ones!
Man ! That IWC is a stunner, gaps or no gaps !!
I prefer the fitted look but gaps work ok on some watches, perhaps dressier watches work better with the gap? Some watches, I'm thinking of the Seiko Sumo in particular, have long lugs and the gap is just too big.
I think for reasons of neatness and precision,straps do look better IMO fitted to the curve.
But can comfortably live without it too.
I have to say on certain watches strap gaps REALLY irritate me. If I could have curved strap ends that match the shape of the case, I would do!
I personally hate any gap which is also why straight end bracelets and mesh for me are a big no no.

They annoy me on modern watches, they seem to be OK on vintage stuff though as that's what was available at the time they were new.
I prefer a gap with leather straps - it's like a picture frame for the watch. I do have one watch which has a fitted (i.e. curved to fit the case) strap - I've swapped it for a "gappy" and I think it makes the watch look classier than it is.
But I agree that a gap doesn't look right on a bracelet - I like bracelets to be fitted.
I don't mind either
On a dress watch, thin case, older style - no problem. On a modern sports watch, unacceptable from a major brand imo.

Never really thought about it, but I can't say I have issue with strap gaps.
I don't mind the gap. Well, i really like gaps.
